I want to put together a definitive 'list' of songs that refer to or mention boots.
Well...not just 'boots', but boots in the context of sexy, or 'evil' women - because 'good' girls never, ever wear boots in rock and roll. Femdom-themed missives are welcome too.Continues after the cut.
My own childhood soundtrack was full of Canadian and UK prog rock. Witchy women who swoop in when the full moon rises, the land is frozen, and the menfolk are weeping (and I wanted to be JUST like them - even when I was 8 years old - I thought I would be an AWESOME prog rock style witch).
I still do. I have really long hair and a cape in the hallway closet.
This does not mean that a hot chick gyrating on a hood of a car while WEARING boots counts. Far from it. There's a ka-zillion videos of pretty women in hot boots, and don't even get me started on record covers.
(If you love boots and Doctor Who - I just made you the happiest person on the timey whimey planet.)
Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking" is an obvious choice, as is P.J. Harvey's "Man-Size" (my personal favorite) - but I need you to do better than that. I know a lot about hard rock/metal, but admit I'm clueless when it comes to hip-hop/rap or recent 'pop' music.
I need you - boot kittens - to dig into your record collections, and to spread the word on your boot fetish message boards full of stolen images (that you kindly never mention - a Lady never asks and a Gentlemen never tells). Just bring the info back to me.
Update: I should have mentioned this song in the original post. It's another 'obvious' track - and unless you can submit a very unique cover of such track, we can already assume it's in the Top 5. I don't want 300 emails mentioning the obvious, boot kittens.
So, in summation - the obvious tracks are Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking", P.J. Harvey's "Man-Size", and Velvet Underground's "Venus in Furs".
