No film is anticipated by boot, glove, and catsuit lovers as much as The Dark Knight Returns. Even though I was disappointed by Nolan's choice of Anne Hathaway (I wanted someone 'edgier'), I trust his casting choices. Hathaway is a talented actor. If Nolan sees her as Catwoman, so be it.
I am biased: Christopher Nolan is my favorite director - Memento is my favorite film of all time. - even if he consistantly (and annoyingly) builds his films around dead, or soon-to-be dead, female characters. (See: Memento, The Prestige, Batman Begins, Inception, The Dark Kni...fuck it - ALL of them).
I was not expecting the 'traditional' Catwoman, because up until now, Nolan avoided obvious sexuality in his films. And Catwoman IS sexuality. I was expecting Hathaway in Doc Martins and an army jacket - seeing her in the traditional catsuit, boots, and gloves was a shock!
Nolan has brought back Lindy Hemming, the costume designer from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I've reached out to every source I have to find out info on these boots.
Looking at the boots: The silver heel has been used by many designers (Lanvin comes to mind). The recent trend of hidden platforms needs to be credited to Natacha Marro of London. (We featured her way back in Bootlovers.com #10). Marro was the first fetish-oriented boot designer to make the hidden platform her signature, and I wish she received more credit for it.
So now we wait for the official high res promo pics! In the meantime, I will continue hunting down info!
